This study examines the fountains of Korgun (Çankırı) as architectural and socio-spatial components of rural heritage. While Ottoman water architecture has been extensively studied in urban contexts, rural fountains have received limited scholarly attention. Adopting a qualitative case study approach, the research is based on field documentation, typological analysis, and comparative evaluation within existing scholarship on Ottoman fountain architecture. Seven surviving fountains were analyzed in terms of construction technique, formal characteristics, inscriptional evidence, decorative characteristics, conservation status, and spatial distribution within the settlement. Beyond architectural description, the study interprets these structures as infrastructural and symbolic nodes embedded in daily rural life, emphasizing their role in shaping patterns of social interaction, communal memory, and the organization of public space. The research also evaluates the relationship between architectural form and environmental context, demonstrating how local materials, construction practices, and settlement morphology influenced the development of rural fountain architecture. The findings reveal that the fountains of Korgun reflect both continuity within Ottoman typological traditions and localized adaptations shaped by rural settlement patterns and regional building practices. Furthermore, the presence of inscriptions, decorative programs, and restoration traces provides valuable evidence for understanding the historical development and cultural significance of these structures. By integrating architectural documentation with socio-spatial interpretation, the study contributes to a more comprehensive understanding of rural water architecture as a lived component of local heritage rather than merely a functional infrastructure. It also highlights the importance of documenting and preserving modest rural monuments, which remain vulnerable to neglect despite their historical and cultural value. In conclusion, the fountains of Korgun represent distinctive examples of Ottoman rural architecture, reflecting local construction traditions while illustrating the close relationship between water, settlement organization, and everyday social life.
